Artists have been moving to 3D in major numbers. Using computer technology to take their flat creations and give them the life only found in 3D. Alexa Meade has flipped the tables on progress and is turning 3D reality into 2D imagery in a fascinating method. She uses a human canvas. Alexa takes the subjects of her portraits and instead of recreating them on canvas or using photography, she paints on their bodies. The end result is a 3D reality that appears like a 2D painting. Alexa then photographs her creations to preserve the magical moment. When you look at prints of her work, you assume you are looking at a photograph of a traditional painting, but it is a photograph of the actual model painted to mesh into the painted backdrop created by Alexa for the shot.
The effect of painting her models to transform them from their 3D reality into 2D surreal images is unique and stunning.
