Hidden night clubs and speak easy bars exploded throughout New York City during prohibition. Many of those bars survived for decades. One of the most intriguing hidden bars could only be reached by walking a winding path through deserted buildings. Then climbing a ladder up to a water tower tank. If you knew the right phrase, you can get admittance to a tiny bar hidden inside the tank. The bar was known for staying open all night long, with the last guests leaving after sunrise.
Almost all of these hidden bars have disappeared into the past, including the infamous Water Tower Night Club. As in most good things, it all must come to an end at some time, and those ends are hastened when you choose to live on the wrong side of the law.
