Advertising is meant to interrupt the viewers thoughts and redirect them with purpose. This group of print and outdoor advertisements push creativity to a new level and stop viewers thoughts in an instant and get them focused on the message. Nikon stops us in our tracks with sexiness. Volvo cunningly illustrates the point we spend more time in our cars than any room in our homes, expect the bedroom. Makita’s ad reminds us that Makita tools build cities in a clever eye-catching manner. One of our favorites is the US Air Force recruitment campaign for engineers, if we could just figure out the phone number. The Yoga Center bent straw campaign captures our imagination in a new way, too.
All 40 of these ads utilize unique methods of stopping us in our tracks for a split second, just long enough to plant their message in our minds, and that is the what advertising is all about.
