Anne Patterson is the artist in residence for Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. If you are in the area between now and the end of February, you need to dash to the Cathedral to see her latest creative installation for the church. The installation is titled “Graced with Light” and consists of 20 miles of stained glass ribbon, or more accurately, satin ribbons in colors matching the stained glass, hanging in the air of the Grace Cathedral. The installation produces an effect of a large stained glass window filling the entire cathedral area with shimmering light. The ribbons change in color and effect as the lighting of the Cathedral is varied, producing a magical effect for all in attendance.
This amazing installation by Anne Patterson took months to complete, with all of the work being done in her Manhattan studio before the final installation in the Cathedral.
