Hidden in the sheer rock cliff of Italy sits a church you will never forget. Halfway up a 120 meter high sheer rock cliff sits the Hermitage of San Colombano. The church is built right into the rock wall using the rocky face of the cliff to shield it from the weather. The church has been in use since 753 AD, or 1260 years. This architectural masterpiece was created to honor a knight who killed the dragon terrorizing the area and slaying children. The story may seem unlikely and impossible, but then again, who could imagine building a church into the side of 120 meter high sheer cliff?
The Hermitage of San Colombano is just one stop on the intriguing Treasures of Trambileno tour route in Italy.
