Lowe’s Orchard Supply Hardware in San Jose, California is about to become a geeks first destination for hardware and home decor supplies. Lowe’s is launching the OSHbot on the floors of the Orchard Supply store to help customers find the products they need. The customer can show the robot a nail, screw, or other sample and it will guide them to the exact location of the part.
You can even explain to the robot what you need verbally and it will ask you questions to clarify your request, show you pictures, and then escort you to the right department and area. The robot spends its nights learning the stores inventory to keep up with the daily changes that occur in any retail setting.
If you cannot find an attendant to help, OSHbot will be there to show the way. Robots could quickly become commonplace in retail as retailers closely watch the success of OSHbot.
