What can you do with an old glass telephone booth? Most of them end up in telephone booth graveyards, slowly decaying, or being destroyed for scrap. Artist Benedetto Bufalino and co-conspirator designer Benoit Deseille are teaming up to rescue at least a few of the classic phone booths by recycling them to create beautiful aquariums for use on the sidewalks of the world. The aquariums are not left as full-time installations, but travel the world being displayed in various communities. The large phone booths provide an intriguing way to display fish and stop pedestrians dead in their tracks with the unexpected sight.
The creative minds of Benedetto Bufalino and Benoit Deseille needs to come to the attention of community leaders and the phone companies hording the phone booths. Their concept is a masterful way to beautify cities and eliminate waste.
