Look closely at the amazing construction of this book printed and bound during the sixteenth century in Germany. The binding contains six separate books which you access by changing which clasps you open. This amazing design required both amazing precision in printing and in the binding process to make all six books available at any given moment. It may not be as convenient as today’s electronic books that can hold hundreds of books at a time, but for its era, this book was a masterpiece and is still an amazing feat by today’s standards.
The book is currently held in Sweden’s National Library, which is home to thousands of other incredible historic tomes.
