We love natural looking homes in natural settings. The Seaside Home by Ultra Architects in Poland is a great example of a home that flows with nature while overcoming the challenges presented by the environment and the owner’s needs. The home is built in a low-lying area with very high ground water levels. This environmental challenge meant the home needed to be waterproof and strong. Ultra Architects elected to build the primary structure using waterproof concrete and then encased the concrete with the wood siding. The result is a beautiful exterior with a very interesting industrial feel to the interior. The interior has a mix of gray concrete walls, wood coverings, and even chain link fencing. In the major living area the home uses wood flooring and a wood ceiling to provide warmth, beauty, and to reduce sound bounce.
The home’s exposed concrete provides a nice color match to exterior stones, with the wood siding, flooring, and ceilings providing a beautiful natural glow.
