The Bauhaus was a common form of architecture in Budapest, but it is doubtful anyone realized the magic they were creating with their staircases until Balint Alovits. Standing at the base of the spiral staircases in several Bauhaus buildings around Budapest, Balint captured time traveling staircases. The staircases produce an almost hypnotic winding circle as they fade upward into infinity. Balint carefully centered the pictures to get the complete effect of the staircases climbing spirals.
The staircases focus out attention to the center, but we can only imagine the dizzy feeling of standing in the center of the stairwell, watching as the staircase flows away to the future without you.
