Instead of just accepting the fact it would never sell, David Johns decided to showcase all of his personal talents as the ad director for Australian ad agency Chimney. The resulting ad shows-off the Barina in a style fit for an action movie sequence or the launch of a the hottest new sports coupe from Ferrari.
The ad may not help David Johns make any more money on the car, in fact, it cost him a lot of extra cash, but it did allow him to show off his talent in producing ads that are clever, funny, action-packed, and work. The ad resulted in David getting tons of offers for his Barina, but he has yet to decide if the pack of chewing gum or the candy bar is the better offer.
