From a distance these sculptures look remarkable, seemingly made from stone or marble, but wait, just look a little closer and you will me shocked to see that they are carved from old books. A New York-based artist by the name of Long-bin Chen is to thank for these incredibly detailed paper sculptures. Chen carves anything from Buddhas, Japanese warriors, ancient Greek philosophers, and any other great thinkers of the past for that matter.
The use of paper has a close meaning to Chen, as it emphasizes human consumption as well as waste. His work is absolutely amazing.
