You walk into the room and see gorgeous rug lying in the center of the room. The geometric pattern grabs your eyes and pulls you closer. With each step your curiosity rises as you notice there is no traditional weave. There are no fibers visible anywhere on the rug. Then you watch in amazement as the owner crumples the rug. Instead of smooth soft rolls, the rug bends, angles, and stands resistant. You take a final step to the edge of the rug an see each tiny piece is made from wood, dyed perfectly, interconnected. This creation was made by Elisa Strozyk, spending hours carefully shaping each piece of wood, dying, and assembling the piece.
You may be fooled by Elisa’s unique choice of materials for creating her textiles, but you will not be fooled by the beauty and artistry she brings. Her elegant choices of colors and symbolic designs created from geometric shapes are magical, almost as magical as the deceptive wood textile.
