The Remal International Sand and Light Sculpture Festival is underway with exhibits open until the end of April. The festival has become the world’s largest sand sculpture event instantly with over 80 sand sculptors creating and using over 1,000 dump trucks full of sand. The sand used at the festival is a little different. It is mixed with a small amount of clay to help in creating a stronger more binding sand, which allows for sculptures of over 50 feet in height to be created. The 80 sculptors combined to make 40 amazing creations at an overall cost of over $3 million.
How much space was required for all of this creativity? 4 football fields of space or just over 300,000 square feet of space. Take a look at a few of the pictures of these amazing creations by the world’s finest sand sculptors.
